Staff meetings

We discussed about our ongoing BHCA program effectiveness on preventive medicine in Morang regional office. Further plans to make our preventive program fruitful were also outlined. Another general staff meeting of CPCR (Child Protection Child Rights) took place, this time in Sindhuli. We talked about financial concerns, such as the new systems of petty cash and quotation.

Action against lymphatic filariasis

Belbari municipality health department team organized an awareness program about the risk of lymphatic filariasis, a disfiguring disease, commonly known as elephantiasis, present in Nepal. The municipality plans to distribute medicine next week for people in need. Besides, the ORCHID (Organization for Child Development) health team also participates in the program and aware regional offices in Morang about the disease.

Becoming a volunteer

The following document explains the opportunity of being a volunteer. From Kathmandu to Dolakha, 3 programs are designed to orientate the volunteer, under specific rules, to help out CPCS and Nepalese children. You can find at the end of the document an application form to complete and sign to become a volunteer and contribute to CPCS cause in Nepal.

Maha Shivratri

Literally translated as “the great night of Shiva”, Maha Shivratri is a Hindu festival celebrated in honour of Shiva on the end of winter and the beginning of spring. This year, Maha Shivratri takes place on March 1st. Kids and staff celebrated this auspicious day in the centers of Dolakha and Godawari. There are many legends associated with why Maha Shivratri is celebrated. One suggests that it marks the day when Shiva married Goddess Parvati, while another says that it was the night that Shiva performed the heavenly dance of creation, preservation, and destruction.

New sanitary policy


A prevention panel about covid-19, in Shree Kabir secondary school, in Morang, falls within the new sanitary policy of the Nepalese government that henceforth provide vaccine for children above 12 years old. In parallel, in Belbari and Sindhuli, the BHCA program started to administrate the first dose of vaccine for teenagers between 12 and 18 years old.
 
 

Prevention classes against variant Omicron


In the Morang district, in the secondary schools of Shree Janta, Dhampal and Devokota, children are being aware of the new coronavirus variant Omicron. CPCS staff and teachers give awareness classes about Child Right and Abuse, in addition to prevention advices to avoid contracting any new symptoms, such as the handwashing procedure.

Final exams

The exam period is now over in Dakshinkali basic school, in Kathmandu. Bags were distributed by municipality to the most successful children across classes.

The last terminal exams took place in Shree Singha Devi and Sahid Smirti basic schools, in addition of routine general health check-ups. It is also the case for Shree Janata secondary school. In Shree Siddhababa secondary school, in Sindhuli, children were taught about how to properly wear masks and wash hands properly just before winter vacation.
