Maha Shivratri

Literally translated as “the great night of Shiva”, Maha Shivratri is a Hindu festival celebrated in honour of Shiva on the end of winter and the beginning of spring. This year, Maha Shivratri takes place on March 1st. Kids and staff celebrated this auspicious day in the centers of Dolakha and Godawari. There are many legends associated with why Maha Shivratri is celebrated. One suggests that it marks the day when Shiva married Goddess Parvati, while another says that it was the night that Shiva performed the heavenly dance of creation, preservation, and destruction.
