New BHCA center in Dikta
The CPCR team in Dolakha will open a new BHCA center in Sitka basic school. We visited the school, discussed with students and the principal to have more information before launching our program. The principal is quite optimistic and the school team is ready to support us to run this new program.
Staff meetings
We discussed about our ongoing BHCA program effectiveness on preventive medicine in Morang regional office. Further plans to make our preventive program fruitful were also outlined. Another general staff meeting of CPCR (Child Protection Child Rights) took place, this time in Sindhuli. We talked about financial concerns, such as the new systems of petty cash and quotation.
Fight against Covid in Devkota
At Shree Devkota basic school, in Morang, our BHCA program focused on a classic health check-up for students. Then, it was followed by a second dose injection of the Moderna vaccine for children between 12 and 18 years old. Covid-19 cases and deaths are slowing down in Nepal since the peak of daily new infections in January.
Holi festival – Fagu Purnima
We celebrated the Holi festival with students, in Kutidanda secondary school, Dolakha. Holi is celebrated for the victory of good over evil and the coming of spring. During this colorful festival, we will throw each other with dry powder and colored water to express our sincere blessings and good wishes.
Action against lymphatic filariasis
Belbari municipality health department team organized an awareness program about the risk of lymphatic filariasis, a disfiguring disease, commonly known as elephantiasis, present in Nepal. The municipality plans to distribute medicine next week for people in need. Besides, the ORCHID (Organization for Child Development) health team also participates in the program and aware regional offices in Morang about the disease.
Becoming a volunteer
The following document explains the opportunity of being a volunteer. From Kathmandu to Dolakha, 3 programs are designed to orientate the volunteer, under specific rules, to help out CPCS and Nepalese children. You can find at the end of the document an application form to complete and sign to become a volunteer and contribute to CPCS cause in Nepal.
BHCA team meeting in Morang
A BHCA team meeting took place in the Morang regional office to discuss about running program situation. From now on, all BHCA centers are regularly open and nurses carry on providing services for children.
Maha Shivratri
Literally translated as “the great night of Shiva”, Maha Shivratri is a Hindu festival celebrated in honour of Shiva on the end of winter and the beginning of spring. This year, Maha Shivratri takes place on March 1st. Kids and staff celebrated this auspicious day in the centers of Dolakha and Godawari. There are many legends associated with why Maha Shivratri is celebrated. One suggests that it marks the day when Shiva married Goddess Parvati, while another says that it was the night that Shiva performed the heavenly dance of creation, preservation, and destruction.
BHCA program in Dolakha
The BHCA program is quite effective in Dolakha. We administrated sanitary pads in Kutidanda secondary school, as well of kids wheigh-in and seizure treatment. In Shree Sundrawoti basic school, we distributed CPCS calendars to the students and we had the opportunity to attend a speech competition of class 6 to 8 in Gujarpa basic school.
Some hygienic material for Shree Mahendra Basic School
CPCS Alliance paid a visit to Shree Mahendra Basic School, in Bhaktapur, and came up with necessary hygiene materials. Masks, sanitizer, liquid hand wash, soap and dignity kits will make better students’ cleanliness.
Awareness classes in Halchowk
Awareness classes about the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) were given at the Shree Halchowk secondary school, in Kathmandu district. The BHCA program offers crucial advices for students, in addition of handmade posters, to guarantee safety for all.

The CPCS and Orchid teams talked about child related issues and planned more agendas in the annual general meeting, on 18th January, in the Morang regional office. They also met the Belbari municipality and the area police division to discuss the running programs and a new short-term rehabilitation program.
